    Commuting from Alexandria to D.C.

Why do people who work in D.C. love living in Alexandria? Because our charming town provides quick and easy access to everything the city has to offer—minus the hassle and sky-high prices. Even better, commuting back and forth between the two hubs couldn’t be easier.

    By Train

From the Platform Apartments, the metrorail is the easiest and most efficient way to get into D.C. The Braddock Road Metrorail Station is just a one-minute walk from your apartment, and both the Yellow and Blue lines will have you in D.C. in about 15 minutes.

    By Car
The George Washington Memorial Parkway will have you in downtown D.C. in about 15 minutes without traffic. During high-commute times, however, you can always bet on traffic; be sure to check route updates before heading out so you can plan accordingly,

    By Bike
With Alexandria being one of the most bike-friendly cities around, a number of our residents prefer to commute to and from D.C. on two wheels. You can take the Mt. Vernon Trail alongside the George Washington Parkway, over the channel and into the city. The trip takes about 30 minutes. One of the many perks of living at Platform is that we offer bike storage and a repair room, making it easy to keep your wheels in top shape, whether you’re embarking on daily commutes or weekend excursions.
